What ... the... fuck?

And I thought politics couldn't make me angry any more.

Yes, the same guy who wrote this.

Sigh.

This kind of thing does _not_ help.

I mean seriously... shutting down a website to protest against... censorship?

So last night the radio informed me about the surprisingly popular pastime of Geocaching. Particularly cool is the concept (not particularly new, but a nice take on an old idea) of Travel Bugs.

Alomst tempting.

During my last stint of working in this building I would post about interesting things I saw in the water on my lunch/smoko breaks.
I wasn’t going to start up again, but today’s can be summed up in one word:

Dolphin.

So, anybody else on Spore?

I am getting sick of the randomly yoinked creatures from the internet all being humanoid... and there is a function for buddy lists and the like.

Townhall published today Palin's talking notes "as prepared for delivery"...

I draw your attention to the following paragraph:

"Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines ... build more new-clear plants ... create jobs with clean coal ... and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources."

I rest my case

It is somewhat unsettling to realize that there are still a bunch of us who would be interested in this.

Quick film review: Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem [Mar. 31st, 2008|09:52 pm]
So on the weekend I settled down to watch a film with the lowest of possible expectations.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Not all the colossal fuck-ups of the previous film were fixed, but for the first time since alien3 They stopped using CG all the time, and opted for puppetry for the close ups with aliens.  I cannot stress how much that helps... nothing looks shittier than using CG when a man in a suit could look much less fake (and they are pretty darn good at making neat looking masks dripping with milkshake thickener nowadays).

There was only one Pred, and he was meaner than cat's piss.  None of this dime a dozen "kill em off every two seconds" like last time.  You could believe this was the same kind of motherfucker from the Predator movies.

Children get chestbursted... no tacky nice ways out for the pre-pubescent.

It wasn't great (the acting blew goats, the human characters were emptier than a creationist's fact-book, Alien gestation time is still about three seconds), and at times the 'tributes' to Aliens were as subtle as a half-brick in a sock... but hey, they at least acknowledged the previous films in some way other than name dropping.

It has problems, but then it is going up against shit like alien4 and the last AvP... and frankly, it is 10 times better.

This sad fanboy is sated, and not enraged like the last few outings.

Others will of course... disagree.

You will have to excuse me for a moment as I descend into a quivering heap of fanboy goo.

[Also,  kudos to Downy for being a fan of The dude]

[music |I'll be that girl - Barenaked Ladies]

If you could go back, and take over your own body in the past... how far would you go?

Do you go all the way... end up with the mind of an adult in the body of a child... confident that you can take full advantage of a huge swathe of information and put up with the crap.

Do you go to high school... the years people in movies seem to love but nobody else ever seemed to?

Start of Uni?

First love?

Last love?

Yesterday?

This Morning?

Well, my phone has gone AWOL... I suppose the only good part of this will be whoever has it discovering there is only about $4 credit left on the thing.

On a lighter side... what does it say about our society when all of these nametags are instantly recognizable?

Now, I'm sure people are sick to death of this lolcat thing.

But this picture just made me pause.  I think it could be better without the text but it looses nothing for it.

oh...
A happy new year to all...

Just got back from Beowulf   I really liked it... Tony didn't....

Pro:  An interesting and cool take on Grendel, consistent quality in the animation, some extremely nice visuals (and no... I'm not talking about Jolie... even is she is indeed very visually appealing) and of the best dragons on film.

Con: some of the acting seemed phoned-in, but that could just have been the lack of real human face movement... they arent _quite_ there yet.

They do however have hair down... and finally... hands!

Could have done without the 3D, but hey...it was there.

I would like to say that today's highlight was coming home from a day without internet access (well, not much) to discover what a shambles the Liberal campaign has become.

But instead it was stumbling across the the spooky men's chorale (with about four times the usual number of members), in the mall at lunchtime performing this.
