A quick review of "30 days of night"
I imagine there is a tradition when making a vampire film that you get around a big table at the start, order in a bunch of chinese food and decide what vampire film traditions you are going to keep.

I just wish the guy who keeps suggesting the most common* could be taken out and drained of his lifeblood.

*that the film must be "a pile of steaming shite"

The comic it's based off is really good. Atmospheric, relatively well written. I got all excited, as the artist was reported to have gone on-set for a visit and been very happy with how his artwork was being translated to screen.

Alas, what we needed to find out is what the writer thought.

I gather that great chunks of the original plot is missing and instead it's all about focussing on the slow, tedious passage of time in which nobody actually gives a shit whether The Heroes live or die and the suspense of being constantly under siege is totally devoid of tension.

I am yet to read it, so I don't know how much plot was missing.

But the supporting "kill them off one by one" characters were devoid of development on any level, and the vampires sucked.

Siege? they just skipped 10 days at a time every 30 mins or so.
